Any parent with more than one child will attest to the fact that what works for one does not always work for the next. It’s amazing how children in the same family can be so very different! Sure, you become more confident in your parenting abilities with each child, but kids like to keep you on your toes! We’ve recently realized this phenomenon while trying to potty train our third child.

Third child….this should be a piece of cake! Or not.

With pull-ups, underwear, treats, stickers, reward charts, potty seat, and a huge dose of patience in-hand, we were Potty Training ready! But something funny happened, our potty training efforts were not working. Nothing. Not the treats. Not the stickers. Not the charts. I don’t understand! These totally worked for his sisters! What. Is. Wrong??

And then it it me! Everything was wrong! I forgot that treats were something that Zoe loved and it worked for her. Stickers and reward charts were something Abbi loved and it worked for her. Talon didn’t care about either of those things. Talon cares about games…especially playing games on my iPad!

Potty Star by Me-ify is definitely a “one of a kind” app!

I still don’t know exactly how I feel about the app. I mean, it is ALL about potty-ing. Like, all about it. But Talon loves it! And I guess that’s the whole point, right?

The interactive app features some unique potty songs, games, and a personalized story all about your little one using the potty.

The personalizing part of the story is actually really cool. You get to record your voice saying your child’s name (so even unique names are said correctly), create a character that resembles your child (as closely as possible anyhow), and select which words your family uses to describe body parts or bathroom ‘duties’.

The games include a matching game, Potty clean-up, coloring pages, puzzles, and, of course, a target practice game. I’ll let you use your imagination on that one.

Talon loves clicking on the little stars that appear in the story to make his character giggle or help him use the bathroom. And the little songs that go along with the story are actually helping him remember things like flushing and washing his hands! It’s amazing how I can remind him until I’m blue in the face, but add a little song and he’s all about it!

If your child likes the reward chart system or if you like charts (I know, I do too), the Potty Star app also includes a Star Chart to help you keep track of your little one’s progress!

If your potty-training child enjoys shows like Super Why! or Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, then I’m sure they will love the Potty Star app, as it was developed by parenting expert Julie A. Ross and created by the producers of those favorite PBS Kids shows! And parents, I’m going to apologize now because, just like those lovable kids’ shows, you’re going to find your kids singing the songs from the Potty Star app all the time! Only this time they’ll be singing about peeing and pooping. Yeah, it could be worse.
