We’ve been spending the bulk of our Summer vacation unplugged from all things media, which, I’ll be honest, has come to a surprise to me.
My kids love their cartoons, time on their kids’ tablets, and the occasional treat of playing on my computer or iPad. But this Summer we’ve been taking advantage of the sprinklers, riding bikes and lounging with a good book.
But the there are Mondays. Oh, my dreaded Mondays!
Mondays are our gymnastics days. Back to back classes for the girls, resulting in me sitting at the gym for two hours with the toddler. Which, if you have a toddler who likes to be on the go, feels like an excructiating eternity! My saving grace, aside from the bag packed full of snacks, has been Disney Junior Appisodes!
Disney Junior Appisodes is a free app for your iPhone or iPad. Once downloaded, you can then purchase “appisodes” of some of your favorite Disney Junior cartoons! Currently available are the *free* Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Road Rally Appisode, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse “Mickey and Donald Have a Farm” Appisode, Jake and the Never Land Pirates Appisode featuring the”Hide the Hideout” and “Captain Hook’s Hooks” episodes, and the brand new, just added Doc McStuffins Appisode featuring “Rescue Ronda, Ready for Takeoff” and “A Bad Case of the Pricklethorns” episodes.
Of course my kids (especially my toddler), love these Disney Junior Cartoons and about flipped when they found them on my iPad last week. But what I love is that it’s not just sitting them in front of the iPad watching cartoons. Each Appisode episode is interactive!
Tilt the iPad or iPhone to help fly Rescue Ronda or help Doc remove that pesky twig from Rescue Ronda’s rotors by using Doc’s tweezers. And the kids love jumping in and helping Doc wake-up the toys and then making them “go stuffed” just in the nick of time!
