why you should grab nestlé crunch this halloween :: it’s chocolate with a purpose!

disclaimer no giveaway
corporate-logoChocolate. I can’t go a week without it! It’s sad, I know. Yet, today I wanted to open your eyes up to the idea of having NO chocolate around. Yes, there are things much more scary in the world than not having chocolate, but indulge me for a minute. Having no chocolate means that the people who make (harvest the beans, etc). the chocolate are now without jobs.

What I’m trying to share with you is not as deep as I’m making it sound.

Did you know that in the past 20 years, demand for chocolate has doubled yet the supply of cocoa beans has remained stagnant. Tough economic conditions, poor social conditions for farmers and lower-yielding crops have put the future of cocoa, and chocolate at risk.

IMG_5509So, since Halloween is this week, I imagine you probably have some chocolate goodies that you will be handing out to your sweet and scary little trick or treaters. I wanted to let you know about this! AND…I wanted to let you know that Nestlé, since 2009 (!!), has been finding ways to sustainably source the cocoa it uses. They are doing this through the Nestlé Cocoa Plan.

Sustainability is all about working toward a bright future, and we all know that a future without chocolate is … well, no one wants to even think about that.

We are handing out Nestlé fun-size CRUNCH bars this year. They are made with 100% sustainable cocoa. That makes me feel good!!

One more thing to think about….

CHOCOLATE IS MORE THAN JUST CANDY: Chocolate comes in many forms.  It’s important to look for
sustainable cocoa in all your chocolate products, including:
  • Hot cocoa, such as Nestlé Hot Cocoa
  • Chocolate milk, such as Nestlé Nesquik Ready-to-drink and powder
  • Cocoa powder
  • Baking chocolate, like Nestlé Toll House Morsels (Dark and Milk Chocolate)

Did you know about this little fun/not-so-fun fact? I always love learning about things, and chocolate is one of my FAVORITE things to learn about! 🙂 Help me spread the word about chocolate sustainability and what Nestlé is doing to help this great cause! **Share this post if you will!!**
