wacky july holidays :: enjoying the summer heat

I cannot tell you how excited I am for July to begin! Beyond the obvious Independence Day celebrations at the beginning of the month there is nothing like the heat of summer finally arriving and getting out to enjoy all the things that scream of summer. Ice cream, street fairs, sunshine, sweet cherries, and beach days are just around the corner!

To help add a little excitement to your month here are some wacky upcoming holidays perfect for some summer fun!

One of my favorite things about the Great Lakes are the fact that we have NO SHARKS. I have a healthy respect for these predators of the sea and this seems like a great day to learn a new shark fact, throw an oversized shark inflatable in the pool, or snack on some shark gummies.

To celebrate this next holiday I need to clarify that I am only suggesting all manner of TEMPORARY tattoos for our children. There is nothing quite like a new packet of temporary tattoos to make my children’s day and this seems like a great time to add some fresh designs to their collection.

There is a reason why vanilla is the number one favorite ice cream flavor and what better way to indulge than a day to celebrate this wonderful sweet treat? Whether you’re a purist or love adding toppings so bizarre the rest of your family never asks for a taste this seems like a perfect day to enjoy some after dinner ice cream (or you know, ice cream dinner!).
