virtual schooling, winging it…..or NOT

To who ever needs to know this, today is Thursday and the weekend is almost here. How’s everyone doing? I know guidelines are different from state to state. Are you in a state of shelter in place or LOCKDOWN? Or are you still able to go our and about?

This is all just hard to grasp and understand what the next couple months hold…What does this mean for our kids and jobs?

Let’s talk working moms here for a second…. I am considered essential with working in healthcare. So, I am still working.  What does this do for me and getting my kids to learn virtually?  It’s hard. Very hard.  If I wanted to be a teacher, I would have pursued a career in that.  That includes schooling my kids at home. It’s just not something I have the ability to do at this time.

Wait a minute….

I’d like to interrupt this message to thank ABCmouse.com for schooling my kids virtually at home during this time.

Nowhere, did it say that it was mandatory for moms to teach their children at home during this time. At least, our school district. Of course, I don’t want my child to get behind, so I have set up something such as reading and math problems. But, that’s as far as we can do at this point.

The schools have sent us numerous emails with things to print and websites to go to, which is helpful, but also overwhelming at the same time.

With three kids in school and all different grades, it gets hard. I am sure there are several moms out there that can agree with me.

So, I am here to tell you, you are doing a good job, don’t let it get to you if you can’t get to it. The kids will still learn. Teach them to bake or cook. Teach them to wash the dishes, even if that means you have to re-wash them after. Teach them life skills. This is the best time to do it.

What are some things you are doing at home to get thru this time?  Are you virtually teaching your kids?

I know one of the other moms shared how she is doing teaching at home. Check it some ideas here. We are all in this together and have different ways of doing this. No one is wrong or right. It’s what works for your family! Let’s help each other out and share what we are doing.

It could be worse, we could live in a time without the technology to keep us plugging along at home. ABC Mouse looks like a great asset to your children’s education right now.
