Captain's Log

How are you doing fellow moms captaining this new journey? We are all in unchartered waters to be certain. Alright, I’ll end my “sea theme”. The entry above was day one of many days to come. It’s not just school being closed, but we live in the part of Northern California that issued theshelter in place.” We aren’t supposed to leave our homes unless it’s deemed essential. While that sounds daunting, I’m so thankful that grocery stores are essential and if everyone can chill out for a second to let stores restock, we can still get groceries.

I don’t have anything on hand to “review” in the way of products. Life has sort of come to a stall. I don’t even have anything profound to say. I’m just here to let you know I’m figuring it out with you.

We are establishing our schedule this week and learning our routine from there. Our kids are 12, 10, and 6 so their school work should be available for online learning by Monday. I’m sure homeschool moms are chuckling at my panic, but this is really not a desire of my heart to teach them at home. God doesn’t give us more then we can handle so I’m going to put my big girl yoga pants on and get to it.

While my gym is closed, I’m going to be more diligent about my home exercise routine. I am a big fan of the Tone It Up app. There’s always a free 7 day trial if you download the app. I’m also so pleased that Weight Watchers is offering their meetings online. My current struggle is my desire to eat all day long. It must be boredom. I need to make good choices like this healthy energy bar. I talked about them HERE on the blog. It’s a strange time we find ourselves in. This is usually our busiest time of year and now all sports have been cancelled, music lessons paused, and church activities halted. I keep thinking of all the things I complain I don’t have time to do. That being said, I expect us all to have organized closets, yardwork done, adequate sleep, and home projects knocked out. Those are the things I neglect when life is too busy. Reality won’t meet my expectations, but I am trying to do few things. There’s that pesky factor that all our kids are home now too.

My oven gets grease between the panes and I took the door apart and got that sparkling again. (Tip: it does take two people to put it back together and be super careful not to break your glass). I also cleaned the toaster, dusted the outside of my lawnmower, and a few other random clean your oven window

I will leave you with a quick list of a few things that have been keeping us busy out of the gates:

I hope you find your way during these unchartered times. I am praying that these extra measures will keep our elderly and those with compromised immune systems safe. I hope we can all make the most of our circumstances. I can say that our kiddos are not sad about any of it…yet.
