the $50 home makeoverI don’t live in a pinterest-perfect house. I never will. Even once the kids are grown and gone, I can’t imagine that I’ll ever be able to have everything exactly as it should be all the time. It’s just not who I am. But even if it’s not photo-ready all the time, I still love my house. And my favorite parts of our home aren’t the things that I bought from a store, but the stuff that I made or that we made together. I love putting my own personal touch on everything, making our home uniquely ours. But sometimes I just run out of ideas and inspiration. A lot of times when I’m ready to try something new in our house I turn to Pinterest, wanting to find all the options. But at the same time, sometimes it’s all just too much! Too many choices. Too many pictures. Too many houses that are picture-perfect leave me feeling overwhelmed and dejected.

You know what I mean, don’t you? There are so many options that you just shut down and decide it’s not worth it. But it is! And The $50 Home Makeover book is a perfect companion for when you’re ready to create. They have a wide variety of DIY projects. Some quick and easy (and I mean really easy!); some are more detailed that take more time. Some use products you probably already have laying around the house; some are going to require a trip to the home supply store. But no matter which option you choose, nothing will cost over $50…but it will make a big difference.

The book goes into details about how to paint furniture to get the look you really desire, how to create fun and exciting accent pieces that really pop in the room, and how to repurpose and upcycle some pretty interesting things such as scrap wood, old books, and vintage trays and suitcases. The directions on how to plan and execute these DIY plans are thorough and simple to follow. With each set of instructions are included the information on how difficult the project is, how expensive it will be to do, and how long it will take you from start to finish. It’s amazing how easy it can be to get the look you want without having to spend a fortune! It really can be done, especially if you don’t mind getting a little paint on your hands!

I’m not so creative, still trying to figure out what to do with 8.5 feet of wall with texture on drywall…..and do it under $50. All ideas under $50 would be great.

I need this book! I love to do DIY and other projects but sometimes I just hit a brick wall when I am unsure if things go together.
