“reporting for duty” with TOMY’s new Zootopia playset

You know your kids love a movie when, after only seeing it one time, they can already name 90% of the characters and are reenacting scenes. That’s how they are with Disney’s Zootopia!

If you haven’t already seen Zootopia, I highly recommend seeing it! It’s an adorable animated film that follows a determined bunny named Judy Hopps as she leaves home and becomes the first bunny on the police force in the mammal metropolis of Zootopia. Comedy and adventure abounds as Officer Hopps hesitantly partners up with a scam-artist fox named Nick Wilde to solve the mystery of the century in Zootopia.

The whole family will love this film with its mix of comedy, adventure and some great lessons on not judging a book by its cover and fighting for your dreams.

Kids are also going to love reliving some of their favorite Zootopia scenes with the new Zootopia Police Station Playset from TOMY. 

Located in the heart of Zootopia, the Zootopia Police Station is the headquarters for all the ZPD officers and is where Judy Hopps gets her assignments. Kids will love making the police desk actually project police alerts onto the screen as the computer announces the alert and lights up the red flashing light.

But be sure to keep an eye on the holding cell next to the desk in case there are any jail breaks!

Kids can use the button just above the jail cell to help animals escape but they better be fast because the open jail cell sets off the flashing light and alarm!

Then head downstairs using the sliding animal elevator — one for large animals and one for small animals — and stop by Officer Clawhauser’s front desk to say ‘HI’. My kids loved discovering his hidden stash of donuts at the desk! And then tip-toe past Chief Bogo’s office…before he puts you back on meter duty!

The Zootopia Police Station Playset comes with two figures (Clawhauser and Safety Squirrel) and a mouse-sized helicopter with spinning rotor. Other figures are sold separately. This playset is currently available at Target for $49.99, which, based on the size and features of this playset, I think is well worth it. They playset requires minimal assembly…just a few pieces to click onto the “outside” of the Police Station. Super easy and only took me a minute or two. And it does require 3 AAA batteries for the electronic features.

My kids have spent hours recreating scenes from Zootopia with this playset and creating new scenes right out of their imaginations. Maybe they are on their way to developing Zootopia 2?!?! Call me, Disney, we can talk 😉

This is definitely one of those “Hot Holiday Toys” that you’ll want to keep on your radar this year!
