one hundred days to a better you

While most people wait until a new year begins to make commitments to better themselves I think that anytime is a the perfect time to decide to become a better mom or a happier person. I recently have been sent two great books that have me excited to end this year and begin the coming year already in the process to living happy and being a better mom.

Without a doubt I know that I am not the only mom out there to experience mom guilt, feel like I’m not enough, or wonder if I’m somehow failing my kids and family. For my fellow imperfect moms I’m excited to share The Better Mom Devotional by Ruth Schwenk. This devotional book contains 100 devotions that help show you how to be a better mom and touches on topics such as disciplining in love, listening, speaking life into marriage, and encouraging fellow moms. In the book Ruth Schwenk addresses more than just our roles as “Mom” but also as wives, friends, and engaging the world around us. Moms are BUSY and I am very appreciative that each of these short devotions begins with an applicable scripture and ends with a prayer and some reflective questions.

In a time when anxiety, busyness, and dissatisfaction with life are more easily found than joy or happiness having someone who helps teach you to become a little happier each day sounds like a breath of fresh air. In the recently released devotional book The Year of Living Happy: Finding Contentment and Connection in a Crazy World, Alli Worthington gives practical daily guidance on what is living happy along with a daily challenge for moving forward in life and living happy.

“Happiness is the topic that everyone talks about, on a mass level,” said Worthington. “I don’t fell like happiness and holiness are two different things. The more we seek God, the more we seek holiness, the happier we become. And on the other side of it, the more times we seek authentic happiness, the real things that make us happy in life, we find God.”

I love how in the book Worthington breaks down what could be a daunting task in to baby steps while still making each devotion able to have a big impact on moving forward in live and living happy.

I hope that one or both of these wonderful devotional books can help you finish this year stronger than you started it!
