make-up that is safe for baby & me :: review

I have heard it said, “If you wouldn’t use a product while you are pregnant, why would you use it when you are not?” With that being said, I am not pregnant… no announcements today! BUT I do try to use products that are safe both for me and for my son. Since I am still breast feeding, I am even more cautious about what I expose myself to because I do not want to pass anything harmful along to my son.

V. Sachar MD has developed a line of cosmetics that are specifically formulated to be safe for both mommy AND baby! All of their products are non-toxic and are safe to use during pregnancy.

I had the privilege to try both the Mineral Matte Eyeshadow and the Liquid Eye Liner. The eyeshadow is made from pure and natural ingredients that are designed to not irritate your eyes. I personally do not wear contact lenses, but I know how sensitive my husband’s eyes are when he is wearing them. I can imagine that this line of eyeshadow would be perfect for those who wear contact lenses on a daily basis… whether you are pregnant or not! The eyeshadow seemed to be highly pigmented. Using an eyeshadow brush, I was able to evenly apply the color and it gave a great hue (It should be noted, I used this shadow along with another mineral eye shadow I already owned. I did this so you could see how wonderful it would look paired with another color). All of V. Sachar MD eyeshadows are “Vegan, Gluten Free, are made without FD&C dyes, no carmine colorants, no BHT, no bismuth chloride, paraben free, free of petroleum-based oils, no alcohols, no nanoparticles, talc free, and preservative free.”

Typically when I wear eye liner, I have black goobers (I know… a VERY technical term!) in the corner of my eyes. I’m sure most of you eye-liner-wearers can understand what I am talking about. With this eye liner, I did not have any discomfort or irritants in my eyes. The Liquid Eye Liner is sugar based. It goes on very smoothly and has a really strong pigment.

From the experience that I have had with these two products, I would recommend V. Sachar MD cosmetics. Whether you are pregnant or not, these products are worth trying for sure! 🙂

I think about almost everything I put on my skin, but I never considered what might be in my makeup! I’ve been trying to use more natural products – thank you for sharing this. I may have to try the Loose Mineral Powder Foundation. 🙂
