#lovemotherearth with woolzies all-natural wool dryer balls :: #earthday review and giveaway

Woolzies Dryer Balls Logo Product Collage

Is everyone LOVING this Earth Day event? I hope so! I really hope that something during this event will inspire each of you to start making small, greener choices in your homes!

Here’s another idea that will work for EVERYONE (not just cloth-diaper-using-hippies like me). Switching from chemical dryer sheets to 100% natural wool dryer balls from Woolzies! Wool dryer balls are great to use with your regular laundry, but just be sure not to overstuff the dryer so that the balls can bounce around and do their thing. I still get some static in the fleece items in the load, but not much other than that!

A note on cloth diapering and dryer balls: When I first started looking into cloth diapering, one of the first things I learned is that chemical dryer sheets do not play well with cloth diapers. They leave a water-repellent film on the diapers, which then repels pee and causes leaks. That’s no fun. So, while a lot of people line dry their cloth diapers (I do, when weather permits), most cloth diapering families recommend using wool dryer balls in the electric dryer. I have 3 sets now, all from different companies, and they are a bit of an addiction once you get started!

Woolzies are a bit lighter than the others I have in my stash, so they don’t make quite as loud of a thump in the dryer like my other balls. I personally don’t mind the thumping sound because my dryer is out in the garage, but if you’re someone who has their laundry in the house and have a light-sleeping baby, these are the dryer balls for you!

The best thing about wool dryer balls, aside from the fact that they are 100% natural, is that their bumping around keeps diapers tumbling – I used to have an issue with inserts sticking to the sides of the dryer (I had 2 of those pimply looking plastic dryer balls, which didn’t work well), but that is SO rare now that I use wool dryer balls.
