MALEFICENT is rated PG and releases in theaters everywhere on May 30th!

“Maleficent,” the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty,” reveals the events that hardened Maleficent’s heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora, only to later realize that the child may hold the key to peace in the land.

“Maleficent” explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

maleficent and meWhen I was at Disney Social Media Moms in California I had a chance to see an extended preview of Maleficent. I was absolutely blown away by it. The graphics are intense, the storyline is amazing and the characters. WOW! They shared information with us about the history, sketches and we even got to meet Elle Fanning and celebrate her birthday with her. My girls were all ears when Mickey brought out a giant cupcake to share! Disney doing awesome things yet again! This even made me talk about it so much more knowing some of the great things done behind the scenes. My friends are all probably very happy that the movie is now in theaters so they too can see what I’ve been so excited about!

maleficent disney sm moms collageThis week it’s live in theaters and we got a sneak peak on Wednesday to share some thoughts with you all. Not that my thoughts are worth much, Disney has a wrap on this lol! But alas, here we go!

Angelina Jolie was perfect for the part.  She captured my attention every time she was on the screen.  One thing that surprised me was that the movie stuck with the original story line that we have always grown up with… it is just told from Maleficent’s perspective.  Now there were some differences but I liked how it all lined up.

I would recommend this movie to anyone. It is PG, although there are some dark parts in it. My 8-year old REALLY wants to see this, but she scares pretty easily. I’m still on the fence of whether or not I’ll take her. 🙂  There are dark parts, but not evil dark, it’s just kind of dark and scary. Fire. Breathing. Dragon. VERY cool but could scare the crap out of some younger viewers. Some fight scenes too. That being said, there are a ton of older kids that would surely love this!

The special effects were amazing.  I want to live in The Moors! (that is where Maleficent lives… fairy land).  The little creatures were so cute and fun to watch.  We were in a 3D movie, so it was fun watching all of the little creatures fly around, not to mention flying around with Maleficent.

The story line was fun to watch play out… to see Maleficent from the beginning of the movie, to the middle and then at the end.  I think the overall theme to the movie is a good story for kids to watch.  It shows how hurtful people can be, how revenge can seem like a good idea but down the road maybe not so much.  I really liked the movie, I would go back and see it again. 🙂

Angelina really did a great job. 🙂  Her daughter was in one of the scenes and it was SOOO CUTE!!!  I wish I could watch that part over and over haha.

All in all…highly recommend!! 🙂
