how i’m wearing the new kohl’s collection, Thakoon for DesigNation – a mom’s take

I am ALWAYS looking for unique and fun clothing options. Well, unique things that work in a mom’s life. Because let’s face it, I’m home with the littles and don’t go to a job right now. I LOVE what I do, but I need the boost that a good outfit…combination…accessory gives us all. When I saw that Kohl’s had their new DesignNation collection coming, I knew I wanted to check it out. I love all things black and white with pops of color and upon an initial look in to the collection, I knew this would be right up my alley.

Inspired by the grit and grace of London, Thakoon Panichgul brings his embodiment of the feminine spirit and poised elegance to the seventh limited-edition Kohl’s design collaboration. Find dresses, knit tops, sweaters, pants and cold-weather accessories for a great value. Panichgul’s unique aesthetic combined with London’s history, culture and sights translates into the distinct prints and patterns in the Thakoon for DesigNation collection. Panichgul’s work has drawn the admiration of first lady Michelle Obama; Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour; and celebrities including Charlize Theron, Sarah Jessica Parker and Emma Stone. Recently in London, Panichgul celebrated his brand’s tenth anniversary in the fashion industry.

The first piece that got me was the Cable-Knit Flyaway Cardigan. This comes in the grey color I purchased as well as a blue. I can see myself living in this, this fall. Dressed up and dressed down, this piece can add to many outfits. I am big on layering too, so this will probably be running around with me in my daily travels here in the Michigan cooler months.

Next, I was going for a dressier look for date nights or business meetings, or for a conference I am heading to in Las Vegas in October. What I liked about the next two tops I’m sharing is the versatility. Again, things can be dressed up and dressed down. From soccer mom to coffee date with friends. These are thicker than your average summer tops, and give a little extra layer of “warmth” for fall.

I thought the Mock-Layer Crewneck Sweater was pretty great all alone. Then I added the drop necklace for an extra level of dressiness. This would also look really great with a statement necklace, in my opinion!

I like longer tees and things I can easily throw on without thinking a lot. That’s why I like anything colorblock. They are just a little busier than an average top, and I think that makes it stand out without the extra effort of trying to coordinate jewelry. So, the Colorblock Print-Hem Tee was a great choice for my busy lifestyle!

And see, I threw on the sweater with the Colorblock Tee. Fun and versatile, right?

I’m thrilled with this collection and I find myself continuing to browse it online. Our store has a lot of it sold out already, so online is my option right now. I may have my eye on a few other things (eh hem…they might be in my cart!!).
