hello fresh :: review and contest announcement

HelloFresh_logo (1)It happens every day. Almost as soon as the kids get home from school, the inevitable question comes: “What’s for dinner?” And the response is all-too-often followed with a groan. It’s gotten so bad I’ve been tempted to ban the question completely.

But when there’s been a Hello Fresh delivery, my kids are actually excited about dinner. Hello Fresh is a service that delivers three fabulous recipes and all of the pre-measured ingredients to make them each week. No more running to the store for that forgotten ingredient. No more trying untested recipes (and ending up ordering pizza–again–when they flop).  And NO MORE GROANS of disapproval!

classicboxI’ve reviewed Hello Fresh before and jumped at the chance to do another review. When I told my kids that Hello Fresh was going to be delivering some more dinner recipes and ingredients, my {super picky} almost-nine-year old daughter said “Oooh, I hope it’s the catfish recipe again. I love that one.” I kid you not. Hello Fresh makes my daughter want to eat catfish.  *NOTE:  While I reviewed the omnivore box, Hello Fresh also delivers boxes for vegetarians.

008As usual, Hello Fresh did not disappoint. This week’s recipes were fantastic. Chicken Yakitori with Crispy Chuka Soba Stir-Fry. Steak Tagliata with Rosemary Sweet Potato Wedges and Watercress Salad. Spring Tortellini Gratin with Basil Pesto and Asparagus. And they taste even better than they sound! Each meal takes about half an hour to prepare and comes with a detailed recipe (with photos!) that ensures each part of the meal will be done at the same time.  The serving sizes are generous–we had leftovers two days and ate huge servings each day.  To say we were thrilled with our meals was an understatement.  (See the photos below for the meals we ate last week.  YUM!)

Starting today, Hello Fresh is hosting a spring giveaway on their Facebook page. The giveaway includes prizes from other amazing companies to help kick off the spring season with everything you need.  Head over to their Facebook page to enter and come back to tell me what you’d be most excited about if you win the giveaway.  You know I’ll be entering!

I just look at the Hello Fresh box earlier today as I received a coupon in the mail for $40 off. I would love to try these meals sometime in the near future as I really get tired of trying to plan meals on a daily basis then go shopping for all of the ingredients. The Citrus Skillet Shrimp on their FB page looks amazingly delish.

I could use something like this, I don’t have a lot of time during the week.
