IMG_9025I am not a traveler. I have three teeny tiny humans whose well-being I am in charge of and my leash is short. The places I would love to see are varied and far-reaching: Greece, for its beautifully colored buildings; California, for its wide traverse of beaches; Italy, for its ancestral call. There are many others, of course, and recently I added one to my list :: Austin, Texas. Why, you ask? Well, it is, of course, the state’s capital and has a rich history, but I have also been made privy to some of Austin’s best kept secrets courtesy of the Coterie Sampler, a monthly subscription box that delivers the best of Austin directly to your doorstep each month, wherever you may reside.

Here are the goodies that I was fortunate enough to sample:

Chocolaterie Tessa :: I was able to try a batch of salted butter caramels handmade that nearly melt in your mouth. Literally.

CKC Farms :: I have been snacking daily (in small quantities, so as to make it last as long as possible) on a jar of seasoned feta that is so good, I am trying to figure out how to get more as soon as humanly possible without moving to Texas (although I am not ruling it out completely).

Luscious Pastry :: The Luscious Chai Tea Mix is the perfect fall treat but can be enjoyed hot or cold to suit your pleasure. So yummy!

Texas Medicinals :: Ginger Webb creates remedies in small batches to heal the body and soul, and their Passionfruit Elixir is no exception (made to promote calm, ease tension and aid sleep).

Old Factory Soap Co. :: I have been washing my hands daily with their Chef’s Kitchen Soap and I am smitten with both the quality and the scent. A chef I am not, but I do love clean, soft hands and the smell is one that I go out of my way to use because I love it so much!

Gardner :: Their house-fermented hot sauce ferments for two months before it is table-ready, and they offer a chili powder that is perfect for the soup and chili season ahead!!

Now keep in mind that each box is different and that yours will differ from mine. But I felt that I would be remiss if I didn’t praise each shop individually because I truly enjoyed each and every one. Bottom line: The Coterie Sampler is as amazing as it sounds and worth every penny. It has two monthly options: the Standard Box ($39.95 per month) or the Mark Box ($59.95 per month). The Standard contains four to six offerings, and the Mark contains six to eight, all in perfectly portioned sizes so that you can truly enjoy each item. Try it for a month and you will be hooked!!!

I never really thought about it, but a good subscription box like this literally and figuratively gives you a taste of what it would be like to travel to these places. I’d love to see Austin, too!
