all things odd :: odd squad from pbs kids

disclaimer no giveaway
Does anyone else remember when Odd Squad came out a couple years ago? This wacky show instantly became a favorite with my older kids (then ages 5 and 7) and they would expectantly wait for new episodes to be released. The kids loved all the weird story lines and kid-centric cast and I loved all the math that was being taught in each of the episodes. Odd Squad is one of the great PBS Kids shows that has made both of my girls LOVE learning about all things math related.

Fast forward a couple years and I am fairly certain we have watched every Odd Squad episode multiple times and when they get on an Odd Squad kick we have had many random and rambling odd conversations at our home. Doesn’t everyone discuss Centigurps while running errands? No? Just us then…

Whether your child needs a little help loving math, already loves all things math related, or who just loves all things strange and odd they should definitely be introduced to Odd Squad. Some the favorite episodes for my girls involve the strange and wonderful creatures and they just love their Odd Squad: Creature Encounters DVD.

The DVD includes the episodes 6:00 to 6:05 (extended adventure), How to Interrogate a Unicorn, The Trouble with Centigurps, Rise of the Hydraclops, and Robert Plant. While they are entertained by all the Odd Squad antics and creature encounters kids learn about: measurement; telling time on an analog clock; data collection and analysis; sorting and classifying information; algebraic thinking; counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s to 100; length; geometry and spatial sense; and understanding that maps provide information about direction and distance.
