a simple halloween photo shoot

I know Halloween is over, but I had to share my photo shoot with you! Normally we do not go Trick or Treating, but this year we did. It was actually a lot of fun going door to door like we did when we were kids. Usually we only go to church Trunk or Treats and fall festivals, but my eldest daughter decided to plan a Halloween Party at my mother-in-laws house and Trick or Treating afterwards. She was the only one excited about this idea because none of my children like to dress up.

Although I had tons of things for my eleven-year-old daughter to wear she didn’t want to wear anything that we had–so she came up with her on costume. She chose to be a scarecrow and aloud me to paint her face. Before COVID our church would host a fall festival and I would paint faces, but my kids didn’t like for me to paint theirs.  This time she agreed the only way she would look like a scarecrow was for me to paint her face.  I chose to just use  contouring mediums with just a bit of halloween makeup for the effects.  Surprisingly she was pleased with her makeup and was more than willing to do the photo shoot.

My son didn’t want to go at all until his best friend agreed to go with us. Unfortunately he chose not to dress up, but  I convinced him to be Michael Myers’ (best friend’s costume) victim. He agreed for me to make him look like he was bleeding and I was able to get in a mini photo shoot of my creations.  Once the photo shoot was over my son wiped off all of his makeup with the exception of the black eye.
