a simple diy :: seaglass vase

Over the years I have ended up with an abundance of vases, but unfortunately most of them are clear. Wouldn’t you like to be able to change the way your glassware looks? Maybe you just want to be able to impress your friends by telling them you created the glassware effect on the vase yourself! I love to upcycle old things instead of throwing them away.  Too many people discard items because they are no longer in style, but if they would just give those items some attention they can be just as wonderful as something new. I have an entire shelf dedicated to all my vases.  My DIY Seaglass Vase turned out great and it was so EASY to make!

  • Food coloring
  • Container to mix in

STEP 1: First choose the vase or glassware you would like to upcycle. I chose to upcycle a vase that I had duplicates of.

STEP 2: Pour a little Mod Podge into an empty container and add a couple of drops of food coloring of your choice. I chose neon green to go with my decor, but I think this would also turn out great if you wanted to do a tie-dyed effect.

STEP 3: Mix up all your food coloring and begin painting the exterior of your glassware. Make sure to cover all your areas of glass in big sweeping strokes so to not leave spots.  Basically cover the entire length of the glass wear in one sweep.  I would paint a second coat while it is still wet.

I told you this was a simple DIY!  Now all you have to do is wait for it to dry overnight and you are ready for a beautiful bouquet of flowers!

What color would you paint your vase? Do you like how my vase turned out?
