a simple diy :: eureka definition sign

She entertained several ideas before she decided to use on word to define each of her for friends. This SIMPLE DIY Eureka Sign is the prefect way to show her friends how much she cares.  We usually make handmade gifts for friends, family and teachers for special occasions.  Most of her friends appreciate the thought and effort that goes into creating a handmade gift.

This Definition Sign is so simple anyone can make it.  Most often you can find someone that will give you a pallet to dismantle.  My husband happens to have an abundance of pallets so I just found a small one that I could make five signs from.  I have made several sings from pallet wood feel free to check them out here.

definition

STEP 1 :: Dismantle your pallet and sand your boards.  I usually use a saw saw to cut the nails and a handheld sander to sand the boards.

STEP 2 ::  Decide on a color to use.  The one in the first picture matches one friend’s bedroom.  However, each sign will be a different color.

STEP 3 ::  Once your board dries you can choose to sand it or you can leave it as it is.  The first picture I left it just as it was after my daughter painted it.  This one she wants me to do a grey wash over it to dull it down some.

STEP 4 :: Once your board is finished you can spray it with fixative so it will last for years to come.  The once it dries you can add hangers to the back of the board.  For long ones I would add two hangers per board so that it stays balanced on the wall.

Wow, did she paint the lettering by hand? I’m impressed! And that’s the reason I wouldn’t be able to do a craft like this. Terrible handwriting that is waaay worse in paint! LOL She did a great job!
