yoga for the whole family with YogaTiffany dvd :: review

I like to do pilates at home and occasionally my kids will “help” me. (And by “help” I mean “sit on”). I wanted to find a way that they could exercise with me, but we’re well past the mommy & me baby phase around here. Plus most of those are for one mom and one or maybe two babies, but certainly not four! After looking around a bit, I found the YogaTiffany DVD. Tiffany is a yoga instructor in the San Fransisco area, where she leads classes for adults, children, and families. Before becoming a yogi, she taught preschool and elementary school. That explains why she has such a calm, warm kindergarten teacher voice.

The YogaTiffany DVD has two levels: for families with children 7 and under, and for families with older children. We decided to try the younger level first. We only had one mat (we’ve solved that problem since then though!) and so after we made a “mat rotation schedule”, we got started with the video. I loved how both my big and little kids were able to follow along together.

After we finished the video, they wanted to go outside and take pictures of their favorite poses before it got too hot. (It’s still ridiculously warm here).

The morning after we did the 7 and under part of the video, my big kids asked if we could try the older kids version. They had a little trouble keeping up initially, but caught on quickly. My daughter’s favorite poses were the ones that required a partner. She grinned and grinned when she got to pair up with me. I know that won’t last forever, so I’ll share my mat for as long as she’ll let me!
