As I sit in the chair waiting, I hear the pitter patter of little feet running across the floor in footed pajamas. Next thing I know, my sweet little boy is launching himself into my arms ready to read his nighttime story… Now this enthusiasm is not every night, and some nights he is so tired we have to skip story time all-together, but THESE are the moments I cherish. The time spent reading to my little man and instilling Biblical truths in his sponge-like mind. I pray that after I kiss him goodnight and he drifts off to sleep that his mind is swirling with stories of a young boy and a giant, bright technicolored coats, and feeding lots of people with just 5 loaves and 2 fishes. I want him to fall asleep thinking about how great our God is and what HE has done for the world!
I absolutely LOVE Words to Dream On from Tommy Nelson! While sometimes we use this book in the morning, rather than at night, it is still a book filled with Bible stories that teach your child about our loving heavenly Father and Biblical heroes of old!
ABOUT WORDS TO DREAM ON:
Start a bedtime Bible story tradition with your little ones tonight!
Young children thrive on routine and rituals, and a Bible story at bedtime is one of the best routines to establish! A combination Bible storybook and book of prayers, Words to Dream On is the perfect bedtime storybook for young children, with a “once upon a time” voice that is also true to God’s Word. Over 50 stories—from the Old and New Testaments—create an overview of the entire story arc of the Bible. Stories are selected and retold for young children with a focus on God’s love, care, protection, trustworthiness, and power.
Each story includes an engaging title, a Bedtime Blessing (a short summary thought), Words to Dream On (a brief Bible verse), and a Sleepy-Time Prayer (a good-night prayer tied to the theme of the story). The book also includes a short letter to parents that includes tested ideas for establishing a good bedtime routine with young children and tips for reading aloud to children at bedtime.
