why I eat chia seeds daily–and simple ways to add them to your diet

I try my best to nourish my body by eating healthy foods daily. Some days are better than others, but one thing I do consistently every day is eat chia seeds. Chia seeds have been growing in popularity and for good reason! They are a simple, vegan way to get in more protein, fiber, Omega-3s and even calcium. You can read more about the health benefits of chia seeds here.

I love to buy bags of Mamma Chia chia seeds and add them to my morning fruit and veggie smoothies.  But for those of you who would rather take the guesswork out of chia, Mamma Chia has lots of nutrient-packed ready-to-go foods for you.  Here are a few of our favorite Mamma Chia products.

Chia Vitality Beverages – I always have a few of these in my fridge.  These organic drinks are made with chia seeds and fruit and veggie juices and are lightly sweetened with agave.  Mamma Chia has so many flavor options.  My daughter’s favorite is blueberry pomegranate while my son loves strawberry lemonade.  I like the slightly floral flavor of blackberry hibiscus.  These drinks have a fun texture–kind of between liquid and jello–so it almost feels like a snack.  My kids love it when I let them have one for a treat after school.

Chia Squeeze – My 5-year-old son considers these one of his favorite foods.  Since he has lots of food allergies, we often bring along snacks wherever we go.  And he always asks for a Mamma Chia chia squeeze.  One thing I love about these is that they are so much more nutrient-dense than the applesauce pouches we used to buy.  They are made with organic fruits and veggies and the top ingredient is hydrated chia seeds.  So there are healthy fats, protein and fiber along with fruits and vegetables.

Chia Granola – Our whole family loves this.  All Mamma Chia granola is gluten-free, organic and packed with 10 grams of protein per serving.  We love to eat this plain, use it to top our yogurt or add a little crunch to a bowl of fruit.  It’s perfect for breakfast or a bedtime snack.

Have you added chia to your diet?  I’d love to hear how you like it best!
