wearhop :: dress your kids in top brands :: review + $150 giveaway

wearhop logoWearhop.com is my newest “trick” shall we say, to making our clothing budget meet my quality standards. (Cute standards too!) Basically you are renting clothes and giving them back when your child outgrows them. If you happen to fall in love with an outfit, you simply buy it out instead of sending it back. I picked out a few outfits for my two youngest.

wearhop $150 giveawayI have changed my philosophy a bit when it comes to being frugal and clothing our family. My first is 6 now, so I have been in charge of the wardrobe aspect of our budget and family for enough time to feel experienced to adequately speak on the matter. I used to think more was better. Then I started to get stressed out by all the wash piling up, putting clothing away, and wearing a good variety of the cluttered closet of clothes. If our kids have enough clothes to get them through a week, I can stay ahead of them with washing those pieces of clothes. Top brand clothes fit my kids better, they wash well, they are more true to size. Since they don’t shrink every washing, the kids don’t grow out of them as fast either. More IS less would be my clothing philosophy in the past few years.

Here is Annabelle in one of her wearhop dresses. It’s a $49 Janie and Jack dress. However, she is wearing it until February for $14.11.

Janie and Jack outfitCharlie got this Janie and Jack shirt and pants to wear…start wearing it for $8.64 (shirt) and $8.28 (pants) instead of owning it for $36 and $46 respectively. Charlie’s outfit is perfect for church. So basically he wears it 1x per week every other week at most. He’s got 3 months (at best) before he’s going to outgrow it. Do I want to pay full price for that outfit? Noooo thank you! Do I want to pack it away in the garage to wait for a future boy that may or may not exist? Noooo thank you! Would I eventually sell it at a consignment shop? Maybe, but I will only get a fraction of what I paid for it. I can spend a whole day organizing boxes of clothes and closets. I love that wearhop.com simplifies my life and keeps the kids in current styles.

My only question was, “what if something happens to the clothes?”

We know toddlers can be messy!  In most cases, our cleaning team can handle minor damage.  In some cases, we may find that an item is extensively damaged to the point that we are unable to clean and/or repair it.  If that is the case, you will be charged the purchase price for the item.  The item is then yours to keep.

Remember, these are more dressy items, they aren’t going to be your every day sandbox and finger painting clothes.

special occassions
What about holiday clothes? They wear it around Christmas and it gets packed away until next year with hopes of it fitting another Christmas season. Check out Wearhop’s special occasions tab. It’s also a great way to affordably dress the tiny ones in a wedding party too. You can rent clothing for 1-6 months in sizes 12 months – 5 years.
