wacky january holidays :: making 2019 a year of fun

With another year staring us in the face (Oh hello, 2019!) I thought it would be a good time to give everyone some days to look forward to during the rather blah month of January. I mean, it’s cold, it’s winter, and we are all trying really hard to keep our New Year’s resolutions without getting bummed out.

I hope these fun wacky holidays help bring you some cheer on a day when you need a little pick up.

If you have no other tidbits of trivia to share on this day you can always go with “Did you know that there is a National Trivia Day and it is today?”

January 4, 2019 National Trivia Day on the SIMPLE moms

My dairy farming friends will agree that today is a wonderful day. Celebrate with the iconic milk and cookies, or become the dinner hero and insist that everyone eat cereal and milk for dinner!

January 11, 2019 National Milk Day on the SIMPLE moms

Raise your hand if you like hot and spicy food? If so, this is the day for you! Even if you can’t dial the heat up too high this is a day to grab something for dinner that makes your lips tingle and has you reaching for an antacid after eating.

January 16, 2019 International Hot and Spicy Food Day on the SIMPLE moms

A day devoted to cheese is a day I can always celebrate. Cheese trays, grilled cheese sandwiches, cheesecake… there are so many delicious cheesy ways to partake of this holiday!

January 20, 2019 National Cheese Lovers Day on the SIMPLE moms

Not to be confused with Pi day (you know, 3.14159) which occurs in March, this day is devoted to the my favorite dessert. Apple, cherry, chocolate, pumpkin… YUM!!!

January 23, 2019 National Pie Day on the SIMPLE moms

So even if you don’t really LOVE these tiny little cabbage shaped veggies this is a great day to try a new way to eat them until you find your perfect match. I suggest roasted with bacon, onions, and a balsamic reduction or shredded in a salad for some extra crunch!

January 31, 2019 Eat Brussels Sprouts Day on the SIMPLE moms

Whatever ways you celebrate the ordinary I hope that your 2019 starts out great!
