vintage tradition :: body balm :: review

You have probably already figured out how picky I am about ingredients in the skin care products I use. Our body absorbs a good 60 percent of everything you put on it! Of course I am!

I stumbled upon Vintage Tradition about a month ago and I was floored that someone was actually making skin care with tallow from grassfed cows. This body balm only contains 3 ingredients! Grassfed tallow, organic olive oil, and organic essential oil. That’s it!Why the tallow? Tallow has an abundance of natural vitamins A, D, E, and K for healthy skin. Normally you will see lotions say they have these vitamins, when really they are synthetic and in very small amounts. Tallow also contains fats like CLA, that have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties, and palmitoleic acid, which has natural antimicrobial properties.I was sent one of each of the balms. I have the unscented one sitting with all of my diapering things 🙂  My youngest gets a little red on her bottom when she is teething and I usually use homemade lard which works well. But this works great as well, and the tallow balm is less greasy. She heals up that little redness within one diaper change using the tallow balm! This would also be incredible to use as nipple cream while nursing, on stretch marks while pregnant, or if you have a baby with dry or bumpy skin.I really love the scents in the other 3 balms. I have been using them on my knuckles after being in dishwater all day and washing hands from diapering all day. I even put some on my heels with socks before bed and woke up to super soft feet 🙂 A little bit goes a very long way and there is no greasy feeling – it completely absorbs.

Vintage Tradition also has a very informative free newsletter you can sign up for!
