the perfect kabobs for ‘on the go’

Kabob {aka Shish Kabob, Kebab} :: small pieces of meat and/or vegetables cooked on a skewer; often grilled or barbecued

Otherwise known as “DINNER IS DONE!” in my house!

kabobs1

They are my absolute favorite summer time eats! Partly because they are pretty easy to throw together and onto the grill; partly because I usually let everyone assemble their own, which means they get to pick the meat and veggies they like; but mostly because they are a great way to use up whatever meat and marinade we have on hand and whatever veggies we have available in the garden or can pick up from the farmers’ market. And who doesn’t love food on a stick?

So, it’s safe to say that if you come to my house for dinner during the summer…you’re going to have kabobs of some sort 🙂

But the kabob-downer comes when we have to bring “something to put on the grill” when we visit friends or family. Or when we want to grill-out at the beach. Or camping!

See, kabobs become a bit trickier in those situations because there’s the whole question of “Do you assemble them before you go or just take all the pieces and assemble there?”. And then there’s the mess. I love me some kabobs but that marinade can make things get a little messy. What’s a girl to do?!?!?

Ok, drama aside, I could just opt for something else to grill. I mean, there are plenty of other options. Maybe not as yummy but, still, options.

Well, Johnsonville (yes, the Johnsonville that has been bringing you all the yumminess of sausage for years) doesn’t want me (or you) to experience that kabob-downer this Summer. They WANT kabobs to still be an easy and convenient option for those “away from home” summer dinners.

The Johnsonville Chicken Kabobs are pre-made, packaged chicken kabobs marinated in either Lemon & Herb, Teriyaki, Sweet BBQ or Sweet Chili Lime. Simply remove one, two, three, or four kabobs from the packaging and start grilling! No prep. No fuss. No mess. Just yummy goodness!

I tried these out earlier this month and was really impressed with the flavor packed into these kabobs! The Teriyaki and Sweet BBQ kabobs (the two that I tried) were delicious!

Now, the Johnsoville Chicken Kabobs do not come with any veggies or fruits.  They are just chicken. But taking along some veggies to grill with the kabobs was pretty easy. And the reason I don’t typically buy pre-made kabobs from the store is because I don’t want someone else to pick the veggies that go with my kabobs. It would be a waste to put onions on the kabobs for me because I just don’t like onions. So it’s nice to not have those veggies wasted with the Johnsonville Kabobs.

I also love the idea of just having the chicken off the kabobs to add to a wrap, bowl of rice, or fresh salad!

Simply put, the Johnsonville Chicken Kabobs are just a great alternative to “burgers and dogs” when you’re barbecuing away from home.

Oh, and here’s a little hint :: we found the Johnsonville Chicken Kabobs in the meat & seafood cooler area of our grocery store, right next to the other pre-made kabobs that our meat department puts together. If you can’t find them, be sure to ask at the store. You can also check the Johnsonville website for availability near you.

How would you use the new Johnsoville Chicken Kabobs this summer?

WOW! New Kabobs from Johnsonville. How amazing! I was at Target on Monday and they marked down tons of their meat and I got two packages of Teriyaki kabobs really cheap! I would make these Kabobs teriyaki because that is one of my favorite flavors on meat!
