the hunger games: mockingjay part 2 :: the dvd you’ve been waiting for!

It’s hard to believe that just eight years ago we were introduced to this young girl by the name of Katniss Everdeen and the broken world she was living in. This heart wrenching idea that a government would place children from each area of the country into an arena to fight to the death; The idea that one girl, an underdog, would not only survive but would challenge the very idea of these historical Hunger Games; This drew millions of people to the book trilogy and movies.

But, alas, all good things must come to an end. And yesterday’s release of the final DVD in The Hunger Games series marks that bittersweet end.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 follows the second half of Suzanne Collins’ book Mockingjay, the last in the three-part series. Without giving away any spoilers, let me just say that the film will not disappoint Hunger Games fans. Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) and Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) do an amazing job of continuing to bring the characters to life in this fourth and final film. Giving us the probably the most heart pulling performances of the entire series. Who will she choose: Peeta or Gale? Will she defeat President Snow? And, more importantly, what crazy outfits will we see Effie wearing this time?

Of course watching the movie is just part of the fun! In the Blu-Ray Combo Pack, released on March 22, fans can experience over five hours of special Hunger Games features! FIVE HOURS! Sorry, kids…mama’s going to be busy for a while  😯

So, while it’s a sad day that we no longer get to feel the anticipation of the next Hunger Games movie release, it is also a happy day that we finally get to bring home the final chapter on Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD and watch every brutal, sadistic moment of President Snow. And how Katniss kicks some serious butt. {insert the Hunger Games whistle thing}
