target debit card: 5% off every shopping trip :: review

I highly recommend the Target REDcard debit card. It is a Target card that is linked to your checking account with whatever bank you use. It’s not a credit card, it acts like a debit card. The perks are 5% off every time you shop at Target AND you will help raise money for your school of choice (1% of your total).

It’s easy to apply for. Simply bring in a blank check and apply at the customer service counter and they will give you a paper to use that day and your card will arrive shortly.  Here is a link to the application too. It will save you the time of filling it out at the counter when your kids are squirming in the cart.

Another plus to the Target debit card is that you can shop online and you get free shipping and 5% off all your Target online shopping.  No minimum amount to get the free shipping.  I shop their online clearance ALL the time and get $2 and $3 items shipped for free plus I get the 5% off too. What’s better than shopping in your pj’s on your couch?

If you are a couponer like I am, you might also be interested in saving even more by combining Target coupons and manufacturer coupons for the same item. If you are really feeling fancy you can use iBotta for even more savings on items. Take baby steps if you aren’t into coupons. I got my start with using coupons at Target at this site. Be brave and get yourself the Target debit card this week. Start saving 5% off your bill every time you shop.

Do it! I shop at Target ALL the time and love the 5% savings shaved off the total. If you print out the application linked in the post you can be signed up in minutes. I never carry my check book either. 🙂

I have always wanted to do this. Every time I am there though, I never have my check book! One of these times I will remember. Thanks for the prompting!
