a simple recipe :: sour patch kids krispies

Have you seen all the new cereals that Post has released?  My children have been trying all of them to see if they really taste like those candies and cookies.   Last week I shared a simple diy :: nerf {inspired} ammo belt for my son’s sixth birthday.  This week I want to share a treat I made for the party.  Using Post’s great cereals I have created a simple recipe :: sour patch kids krispies that you can make with your kids.

Sour Patch Krispies

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups of Sour Patch Kids Cereal
  • 10 oz bag of marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons of margarine

Step 1: Place your marshmallows and butter into a pot on the eye of the stove.  At medium heat melt the marshmallows and butter.  Make sure to stir frequently.

Step 2:  Once your marshmallows are melted begin gradually adding your 6 cups of Sour Patch Kids Cereal.  Make sure to add one cup at a time or it will be too hard to stir.  Continue to stir over low heat until you add all all 6 cups of your cereal.

Step 3:  Once you have all 6 cups of Sour Patch Kids Cereal mixed up well you can pour it into the pan you plan to use for it to harden.  I have a pan designed for brownies that has an attachment that cuts your brownies into perfect squares.  This is the pan I used for my daughter’s Sour Patch Kids Krispies, and it comes complete with a carrier top so that you can take it with you.

As you can tell I allowed my daughter to make this simple recipe all by herself.  I rather enjoyed watching her try to get all these gooey Sour Patch Kids Krispies out of the pot.  My daughter said it was hard work, but it was delicious.  I have to warn you this recipe is an acquired taste because if you do not like Sour Patch Kids candies you will probably not like Sour Patch Kids Krispies.
