“Just one more paragraph,” she says when I call her name and I know exactly how she feels. She’s heard me say it a thousand times. She’s said it herself at least a hundred times. When you’re knee-deep in a good story, it’s hard to tear away. You always want to read just one more paragraph, one more chapter, just a little more. I love that reading is her favorite hobby. I love that we share that love. I really love that the two of us can curl up in bed, back to back with books in hand, on a Saturday morning and not say a word for hours. But with 4 children, I rarely get uninterrupted hours to curl up with a good book. So I take what I can get here and there.
One of the easiest ways I’ve found to carve out a little more reading time is to shop locally. That sounds simple enough, but we live in a fairly tiny town so our options are limited. We have a grocery store, a handful of dollar stores, a few gas stations, and a Walgreens. Lucky for me, Walgreens has pretty much everything we need. We’ve bought birthday and Christmas gifts there. They have school supplies, a nice selection of seasonal items, toiletries, makeup, and they have the coldest sodas in town. (Sometimes my Diet Coke even gets a little slushy at the top. Heaven!) But if I can keep from driving to either of the bigger towns around us, I can save at least an hour! Plus, the folks at Walgreens have gotten to know us pretty well and make sure I catch all the deals that they think I’ll like or need. I also love that they frequently have great prices on Huggies diapers. My youngest is thiiiiis close to being completely done with diapers, but for now we still do a bedtime diaper. Do you know what that means? It means that, after 10 years of buying diapers week in and week out, we’re almost done! I’ve tried a lot of different diapers in that time and I always keep coming back to Huggies. That LeakLock system is real, y’all!
