simple ideas to celebrate the moms we love

Mother’s Day is just a couple weeks away.  It’s pretty special to me when I think about how we’ve set aside a day to celebrate the women who have raised us! My mom is an amazing woman who raised me and my 4 siblings!  When I think of her I think of a woman who is consistent, steady, always there for us in every way.  She is selfless and strong and I’m thankful for all the ways she loved and still loves us.  Mother’s Day also is a day I celebrate the blessing I have to be a mom of 2 sweet little ones.  I remember the first time I heard each of them call me “mama” and it’s one of my greatest joys and biggest responsibilities and I couldn’t feel more thankful for each of my kids.  We are in such fun stages with both of them, and even on the days with the biggest tantrums and messes, I do my best to remember that these are precious days and these are some of the sweetest times of their lives.  While the stages of childhood that we’ve gone through are few, I’ve really loved each stage and know that each one will bring new challenges and new joys!

Mother’s Day is a day we celebrate and show appreciation to those women in our lives who have loved us and given time and love to raising us and teaching us and it’s a chance to let those moms know how thankful we are.  Here’s a couple ways to love on those moms in your life.

Spend time together

We live too far from my mom to always be able to be together with her on Mother’s Day, but it’s a day we can spend time with my wonderful mother-in-law who raised my husband.  We have had her over for lunch, taken the kids over with special treats, or just found ways to be together with her to show her our love.

Gifts or flowers

A special gift can show a lot of love to a momma on Mother’s Day!  Pick out something like a piece of jewelry or a special plant that you know she will love!  One of my favorite gifts was a plant on my first Mother’s Day to watch grow and bloom each year as I watch my kids grow and bloom each year. I also love a personalized piece of jewelry!

Homemade cards or pictures

I’ll be sharing some ideas during our Mother’s Day Event, but one of the best things you can give from your little ones to a grandma or nana is a gift made by little hands.  We’ve made cards, stepping stones for the garden, and a decorated frame with updated pictures!  Any fun little project your kids can create can be special!

Baked sweets

Deliver a special box of cookies or cupcakes or have mom over for dinner and serve a special dessert!  I’ll share one of my favorite strawberry cakes next week!
