There are CDs that we have for my kids that make them start dancing when they hear the music come on. But it’s always more interesting when I catch myself dancing to a CD that I’ve put on for the kids. Especially, when it’s lullaby music…
Yep, the folks at Rockabye Baby have another great release to share with the world and I caught myself rocking out to the very first track on the CD, “Personal Jesus,” even though the guitars and drums had been traded for the soothing tones of mellotrons, vibraphones, and bells. Oh yes, Rockabye Baby’s latest release is none other than Lullaby Renditions of Depeche Mode!
Whether you have been fan of the triple-platinum UK synthpop group’s moody, trance-like tunes for a while, or you just need to add some variety into your kiddie music selection, this is a great rendition of some popular Depeche Mode tunes. “But it’s lullabies…” you’re thinking, and yes, even though it’s lullabies you can still hear the inherent beat that makes you want to tap your foot, bob your head, and sway to the music.
Rockabye Baby’s instrumental lullaby renditions of favorite rock bands including Bob Marley, Coldplay, Guns N’ Roses and more became an instant pop-culture phenomenon upon their 2006 debut. It’s now a rock rite of passage to get “lullabied” by the series. Recent inductees to the Rockabye Baby club are Lullaby Renditions of The Police, Lullaby Renditions of The Flaming Lips and Lullaby Renditions of Van Halen. The Depeche Mode CD joins the series this month, and lullaby tributes to The Smiths, Foo Fighters and Dave Matthews Band are coming soon. These are just the early 2012 plans for “the little indie label that could.”
I’ll be expectantly waiting for the other releases from Rockabye Baby in 2012 and I hope to share some more great lullaby renditions from some of my favorite artists.
