target logoSo, you are having a baby!! Whether it is your 1st or your 4th, there are some items ALL parents need, and some that no one needs. Honestly, some of the products on the market make me chuckle when looking at them. We won’t focus on those, however, for this post. I want to share with you products that I think are absolute essentials. Things that I recommend to my best girlfriends, and things I will help my younger sister register for when she becomes pregnant one day. I am expecting our 4th, so I do have a little knowledge on this topic. We have gone through the good, the bad and the ugly….let me tell you! 🙂

  1. First and foremost, a car seat. Get the best, I mean you have 9 months to save. Save up and get a Britax, trust me. From all my research, they are the best (in my opinion) 🙂
  2. A highchair that has as LITTLE amount of cracks as possible.  I have recently been introduced to the Keekaroo Height Right Chair.  I love that it is very easy to clean up AND it grows with your child.  We have one, and love it!
  3. A bottle system that will not only be free of BPA, but easy to use and not spill.  We have used Avent as well as Dr. Browns for our three little ladies.  I think those are great, safe brands.
  4. A good breast pump, if you are planning on breast feeding. Do NOT skimp on this one. It will become your best friend if you let it.
  5. A good nursing pillow. Those late night hours, you are going to need a little help holding your little one up.  I’ve always used the Boppy brand, but I know there are more out there.  Plus, the Boppy was used after I was done nursing too with the babies.
  6. If you are planning on having you little one in your room with you, I highly recommend a good looking cradle.  Our first was in our room with us for about 5-6 months LOL!  Sleeping away.  I say have a good looking one, because you will be looking at it day in and day out. Not only that though, you want functional.  The BABYBJÖRN cradle is awesome.  All you have to do is tap it and it gives the baby a rocking motion.  It is a little pricey, but totally worth the investment if you will be having the baby in your room for a while.  Not only that, if you are going to have more than one child, it’s totally worth of hand me downs! 🙂
  7. a video monitor if your child will be a ways from you.  I thought video monitors were over rated until I saw the capabilities of one at a friends house.  If I had to do it all over again, I’d totally get the Summer Infant Video Monitor I saw at Target!
  8. My girls always loved the Fisher-Price Jumperoo.  I wanted to put this one in there because it was always so fun.  I love this brand, as that’s what we have always had.  Plus, I don’t think it’s cheap and flimsy like some others.

I’ll leave it at 8 items, as I think that will get you far!  I wish you the best with your new blessing!  I would love to hear what you have in mind too as far as your “essentials” before bringing home a new baby!!

    vibrating papasan seat- when babies just wouldn’t sleep- this always worked. Also helpful when babies got colds so I could prop them up while they slept for easier breathing.

    i got the fisher-price rock ‘n’ play sleeper for my daughter when they first came out and she loved it – we had a dog at the time so it was a nice place to lay her off the floor. she also took good naps in it and so far, my son likes it too 🙂 i recommend this to all my mommy-to-be friends.
