onyababy :: keep your baby close {giveaway}

Babywearing is the practice of wearing or carrying a baby or child in a sling or other form of carrier. Babywearing is far from new and has been practiced for centuries around the world. In the industrialized world, babywearing has gained popularity in recent decades, partly under influence of advocates of attachment parenting; however, not all parents who babywear consider themselves attachment parents. Babywearing is a form of baby transport.photo(49)

I have always loved to wear my children and they have always loved it.  My daughter is 20 months old and about 26 lbs and loves it.  We recently took a trip from Michigan to California and I knew I was going to need something to help me in the airport and on my travels.  I have several slings and carriers but I knew I didn’t have the type of carrier I wanted for this trip.  I began my search and came across Onya Baby and knew it would be perfect for this trip! OH was I ever right!  This carrier is the best, it made my trip so much easier it was a lifesaver.  I traveled with my daughter, son and mom.  I wore my daughter on the from and had a heavy backpack on my back and a diaper bag/purse on my shoulder.  It was fantastic….hands free!  I even wore her on the plane for 4 hours and it was fantastic…she loved it!

The waistband is super-padded, and it does a terrific job of distributing weight onto your hips and can be worn on your front or back. The shoulder straps are fully adjustable to help hoist your wee one both up AND closer to your body. This carrier is more like a “pouch” style support, which is a knee-to-knee support for your little one, and the under-leg padding photo(47)is exceptional. The sleeping hood tucks neatly away, there’s a loop on the shoulder straps to strap toys to, and there are two pouches on the front!! You can wear your little one from 15-45 pounds in the Onya, so it’s a terrific option once you’ve left a wrap in the early stages of babywearing.  So perfect.  There are so many zipper pockets and things….

Here is the awesome part….

In this zippered pouch on the front is a piece of fabric and a few nylon straps. With just a few simple lacing motions and clicks you now have a portable high chair. Yup that’s right, It’s a baby carrier and a portable cloth high chair all in one. There are a few straps, and it took me a little bit to realize where they went, but it’s a fairly quick learning curve and well worth it. Your little one finishes eating, you tuck the fabric up inside and zip it shut. Strap ’em on, and they can now have a lovely post-lunch nap!  How awesome is that?  Being that my daughter was 20 months…she didn’t liked to be strapped to the chair like that….of course…but I definitely would use it for babies right when they start sitting when out and about!!

    I LOVE this carrier. My babies tend to be on the tall side, so having the extra length is definitely a plus! This would be PERFECT for us, but not in the budget at the moment. Fingers crossed for the giveaway. If not, it’s back to looking for change in the sofa cushions!

    I like my moby wrap. I like that I am able to wear my baby and do stuff around the house and run errands at the same time.

    I like the closeness of baby wearing. I have a slingling that I used with my almost 2 year old but am looking for a new carrier to use with the new baby due in Aug.
