ncircle entertainment :: the gruffalo dvd {giveaway}

After our first time watching The Gruffalo I knew we would have a family favorite on our hands.  By the third or fourth viewing I knew this DVD was to join the exclusive club that only Princesses had been welcome to before, the club of “Let’s memorize the movie and act it out whenever we can.”

Yeah, 3-year-old Michaela’s new favorite game is to act out the scenes from The Gruffalo whenever the mood strikes.  She especially enjoys getting someone to play along as Owl, Fox, or Snake so she can do her best at playing Mouse describing the Gruffalo, “He’s got knobbly knees, and turned out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of his nose!”

Based on the best-selling children’s book, The Gruffalo is a magical tale of a mouse who takes a stroll through the woods.  Encountering three predators who all wish to eat him, the adorable and confident mouse has to use his wits to survive.   He tells his predators that he is meeting a monster, which scares each of them, but what will mouse do when he comes face to face with the terrible product of his imagination?

This 2011 Academy Award nominee is narrated by Helena Bonham Carter and has the voices of an all-star cast.  The animation style makes me think of a slightly polished digital version of claymation.  The result is a fun, imaginative, and smart movie that our whole family enjoys.
