my kid’s health :: iPad app {giveaway}

Posted on March 23, 2012May 23, 2017 by Ginny

I wish I had this app when our Annabelle was born.  The first year of her life was a bumpy road with lots of doctor’s appointments, specialists, and surgeries.  Without going into great detail, she had some GI problems that had us at the doctor’s office or Children’s Hospital dozens of times.  I had to write in a journal and keep a calendar with all the information I needed as we saw pediatricians, surgeons, GI doctors, allergists, etc.  Our insurance at that time was confusing as well, which meant medical charts didn’t always find their way to the doctors we were seeing and I would have to rehash her medical history to each new specialist we saw.

With an app like this, I would have been able to keep all her medical history in one place and the appointment reminders (with locations) would have been helpful as well.

I  pulled out all the paperwork I had stuffed in a drawer with Jack and Annabelle’s stats and vaccination records. It was a bit of backlogging I had to do, but I love that it’s all organized and in one place now. After inputting their weight, height, and head circumference, I was able to view their growth statistics on charts. A recent update to the app also allows you to post your child’s stats to Facebook and Tweet it. I enjoy watching my friend’s babies grow on Facebook and often see my mommy friends posting current stats on their chubby babies. This app will prompt you to publish it. I like to compare Jack and Annabelle’s size at each milestone as well. It’s all in one place for me to look up their statistics easily.

Our insurance carrier changed not too long ago. It took a long time to get all of our charts to our new doctors. An app like this will keep your child’s health information in your hands. The events tab is helpful too. I never know when they need what shots. This app also allows you to add upcoming doctor’s appointments and sync it with your calendar. Organizational goodness!
