monster jam recap :: feld entertainment

disclaimer no giveawayWe saw Monster Jam for the first time and our family LOVED it. It’s bittersweet that my crew is growing up so fast, but I love all the new things we can do now that the kids are older. We went to the pit party before the event and we got to meet the drivers.pit party

bring your own bookI have a little tip to share…

You can buy a program for $10 and have the drivers sign it at the Pit Party OR you can bring your own book. We happened to have this Step into Reading Monster Truck book. Not only did it teach us a ton of fun facts before our show, but it’s extra special now with lots of signatures.

Did you know the trucks can burn one gallon of fuel per second!?!?! Another fun fact is that the bottom of the car is glass so the drivers can see below during tricks. They are incredible machines and very talented drivers. We all enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing the trucks up close at the Pit Party.

Races

The show has 3 stages. The first part held the races. The times were often so close it was hard to tell who won. It might be by a 100th of a second. The cars were disqualified by their times one by one until it got to the last 2. Grave Digger is a popular truck and his 30+ years of experience showed last night.

2 Wheel Challenge

The next event was the 2 wheel challenge. The drivers had 2 attempts to drive their trucks on two wheels. Whoever could do it the longest was the winner. We also got to participate in the crowd and judge each contestant and give them a score on our phone. Jack who is 10 enjoyed that part. You can giggle at our thin California blood. We were freezing. It was in the upper 50’s, but I swear the wind-chill factor was 50 below.

Freestyle

After the intermission the trucks came back for the free style portion of the show. This was the best part. They jumped high, they did what looked like hand stands with the trucks, there were donuts, and the best parts were the trucks that did flips. The crowd roared when a truck would head toward the ramp that aided in the flip.

If you’ve never been to a Monster Truck event, our family gives it two thumbs up. We had a wonderful time together and we made many fond memories. I do have one final tip. Make sure you know the rules of the venue you are attending. Levi Stadium had the highest security we’ve ever experienced. My tiny cross bag was 1 inch too big and they made me bag check it and gave me a plastic baggy for my belongings. It’s good to look up parking and other such details too. You don’t want any added stress when you are looking forward to an evening together. Enjoy the event, eat garlic fries, and be prepared for the weather!family time at monster jam
