Christmas cards are a fun way to wrap up another year and wish your friends and family a Merry Christmas. I enjoy connecting with people from each chapter and season of my life and for some reason Christmas cards bring us all together again each year.

Minted

Since I find myself a little less busy this holiday season, I am trying to message each friend and have a personal conversation with them when I get their card in the mail. I figure I might as well tell them how much I enjoyed getting their card and how I can’t believe how the kids have grown. I got Jaime’s card in the mail yesterday. Did you see how cute her precious family is? She also sent Minted cards this year and they turned out so well.

I don’t always do a professional picture, but this year I had the opportunity to get our family photo taken in time for the card. To my shame, it’s been quite a few years since we’ve had a family photo done. The photographer did such a nice job. If you are in the Bay Area, you should check out Photography by Tish. She gets the photo credit for this year’s main photo on the card.

So once you have an idea of your main photo, Minted makes it so easy to upload your photo to their site and it will appear in hundreds of different holiday card designs. You can fine tune your search if you want to filter it by color, orientation of the photo, number of photos on the card, etc. They call this the FIND IT FAST option.

I had the hardest time choosing which card to send. I narrowed it down to these four choices. I ran a poll on our Instagram stories and it was a 4 way tie! It speaks well for Minted, they have an option that everyone likes. I had my heart set on a floral card this year, but I am a push over for all things pink. I went with the pink card and chose a backer that let me add a few more pictures and a recap of our year.*

It was a tough choice between the rose gold foil color and the red, but I went with the bigger pop of color and it coordinated well with our outfits in the photo. I love all the options within each card to really make it customized. I wish a photo could give the full affect of the red foil snowflakes and “MERRY CHRISTMAS” on this card.

A Look back at 2020

So much (and so little) has happened since last Christmas. We know that this was the year God had planned for us, as different as it turned out to be. We are grateful He preserved our jobs and gave us extra time together as a family.

Jack loves basketball and had an undefeated season before it came to a halt in March. He turned 13 in August and grew about half a foot in 2020. It’s new territory having a teenager.

Annabelle continues to be our artistic and musical child. She was by far our easiest quarantine kid. Her cleverness and ability to create things is fun to observe. She’s our piano-loving old soul who is now 11 years old.

Charlie started the year by perfecting his bike riding skills. He had a memorable 7th birthday in April. A few California Highway Patrol officers joined his birthday parade. He’s our most willing helper and sticks with a job to the end.

This year brought new perspective. Going to church, attending school, visits to MI, and seeing family & friends became extra special. We may live in uncertain times, but we keep looking to Christ. We are thankful for His redeeming grace.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
