love bug with raffi :: review + giveaway

disclaimer giveaway

Raffi_LoveBug_LGWho else can still sing Raffi’s “Baby Beluga” without music accompaniment? How about “Down By The Bay” or “Five Little Frogs?” These were some of the Raffi songs of my childhood and all these years later I can still remember the words.

Raffi has been producing children’s music for nearly four decades and there is a very good reason why he has been such a long running children’s music success. It is not just the catchy tunes and easily remembered lyrics that make Raffi so beloved, but also his playful personality and the joy for what he does that comes across in his songs.

With the release of his first new children’s album in 12 years, Love Bug, Raffi has come back on to the children’s music scene with some new insta-hits that I have the chance to share with my children to create the next generation of Raffi fans.  It came as no surprise that the collection of 16 songs on the  Love Bug album was something my girls were instantly drawn to.

Starting off the album is the title song, “Love Bug,” which talks about the “best kind of bug around… where the hugs come from.” While they are both old enough now to understand that this is a silly song and there isn’t an actual love bug inside them, both my 4-year-old and very literal 6-year-old enjoyed this song to no end. They giggled about the silly Love Bug and I frequently am the recipient of spontaneous and unsolicited hugs after we listen to this fun song.

Sandwiched in between the silly  are songs like “Mama Loves It” which talks about how kids pitching in at home helps make the home a ‘happy home.’ I just loved listening to this newly released song that had some old-fashioned advice about how a family should function. I’m sure even my octogenarian grandparents would appreciate this song!

Whether you’re one of the few people who have never been exposed to Raffi’s children music brilliance before or if you’re a fan from waaaay back when like I was, Love Bug is a great album to share with your children.

Oh wow…I am a retired preschool teacher who has actually had the privilege of attending his concerts and meeting him on numerous occasions. Now my grandsons need to hear his joy. I always loved Shake My Sillies Out! Most of them needed to do just that and so do my grandsons. They are here 7 days a week while Mommies work. I would love this.
