introduction of the sugar goblin to my girls…hint, cute and cuddly with purpose!

This post is part of a sponsored campaign for The Sugar Goblin. I received compensation for my participation, but my review and opinions are my own.

With Halloween on everyone’s mind now that October has hit, I’m sure you are just like me when thinking about what you are going to do with all the candy that comes with trick or treating. Well, we got a jump on receiving candy this year when we attended the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney. So, I am hoping we have a little bit of forgiveness when Halloween rolls around. But, probably not. We do some fun, family things this time of year and it never fails that candy is the treat everyone hands out. Well, this year, our candy is going to a new place. Let me introduce you to a new Halloween tradition we just learned about and one that I’d love to continue each year!

IMG_9080This adorable little green goblin that takes all. the. candy. Yes, you read that right. Well, technically YOU are the one taking all the Halloween candy (and saving all the Reese’s…#amiright?!?!). Let me just tell you about it…it’s so cute and my girls LOVED it this week when he came to our home to live!

For starters, his introduction was grand. He was propped up on a telephone I have hanging on the wall when the girls came home. If you can’t tell, he kind of stands out with his bright blue eyes and his fuzzy green fur.IMG_9090 They immediately asked what he was and WHY he was in our home hanging out. Here’s where the fun came in. I shared with them what I learned from the book that was included in the set (the set comes with a book and a plush, so you will be all set and can learn too to share with your kids). I then told the girls that he did tricks when he was paid in candy. Oh yah, that sure did get them chuckling. What kind of tricks they asked? I told them very quickly they had to pay up to learn about this. Ha Ha! Off they ran to the stash to get some candy for him. And off, in my mind I went, to figure out WHAT trick he’d be doing come morning!IMG_9098Bottom line. He does tricks in exchange for treats. Give him the candy, he does funny things. Totally fun, right? I think the dentists all over the world are ringing in a big Hallelujah! lol!!

The goblin then returns after Halloween to save his village, because candy is all they eat. The end. Or however drawn out you want it to be. We are more of cold turkey over here. lol! However, in exchange for children giving their candy, and the goblin doing tricks and pranks, parents give the kids a present after the Halloween candy has been forked over. A show of appreciation, if you will 🙂

Now, I have to mention WHERE you can pick this up since we are coming to a close on this post. For $29.99 you get the Sugar Goblin Storybook and Plush set (you can find it HERE as well as on Amazon). The full explanation can be found at The Sugar Goblin’s website as well as in the book! It’s really quite simple and totally fun! IMG_9100

Well, what do YOU think about this now that I’ve shared the info with you? Are you just as intrigued as I was and HAD to do this with your family? Do tell!

Recommended for ages 3 and up. Yes, the baby was in love and took him everywhere once I shared him with the girls. She was always supervised though 🙂
