blue manatee boxes :: gift books in a box that rocks {giveaway}

We sure did have a good time with this review.  I added a gallery of photos at the bottom of the post.  Hoping it will help you experience Blue Manatee Boxes with us.  It was great fun on a rainy day…yes, it does rain in California! 🙂

I put together a customized 3 book box which retails for $30 (includes shipping).  I chose two of our favorites, Goodnight Moon and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Our third choice was YARD.

YARD is part of the Baby Unplugged series written by Dr. John Hutton, founder of Blue Manatee.  Our 2 year old “reads” it to me now that she is more familiar with it.  The illustrations in this book are by Andrea Kang.  I found the modern and somewhat whimsical art to be very cute.  Who cares what I think though, our Annabelle loves every page. She’s the art critic that matters.

The books are recommended for children ages 3 and under.  However, the box and packing can be recommended for all ages in my opinion.  Our 4 year old had a wonderful time turning the box into a robot.  The packing popcorn is very unique as well.  A sponge is included in the packing.  You simply wet the sponge and get the packing popcorn a little bit wet by dabbing it on the sponge, and it will stick to itself, the box, or paper.  We are NOT crafty in our house, this was just our speed.  We made a few things out of the packing popcorn and then we made a robot out of the box. Both our 4 year old and 2 year old worked together to create their new robot friend.

I appreciate the books being sturdy.  Our other copy of Goodnight Moon was a little too loved by our 2 year old.  However, these board books are perfect for children 3 and under.  I let her take her new Blue Manatee books to bed without worrying about them being destroyed by morning.

If you have kids, it’s a great rainy day/snowed in day activity.  It would make a really fun birthday gift to send to a special someone that lives far away.  It would cheer up a sick little one too.  Blue Manatee Boxes is working on a Feel Better Box in the future, but any of their current boxes would bring a smile to any child’s face.  my SIMPLE star rating :: 5 out of 5

      Great idea and it would be a good activity for you to do together when the baby is sleeping. They need that special momma time after a new baby.
