help your child learn while they play with super duper educational toys and games :: review and giveaway

disclaimer giveaway

So you all know by now that I really love educational toys. I am hesitant to bring toys into our home that aren’t educational or promote creativity, innovation and thoughtfulness in some way. I mean, think about it. If you had to learn something, wouldn’t you want it to be fun? And wouldn’t it be cool to be learning without realizing it while you play? I think so! I firmly believe that it’s never too early to start teaching a child, and teaching through play is the best way to teach the youngest of children. For this reason, I really like the products at Super Duper Publications. In February I reviewed their 3 sets of Webber Photo Cards and their Yogarilla 55-card/110-activity yoga deck. Since that time, the photo cards have been a regular favorite, and at least one set travels with us on outings at her request. We have played with our Yogarilla cards a number of times, and it is SO cute to watch her try to orient her body like the pictures. She also likes ordering me to follow the pictures, and thinks it’s hilarious when I comply. 🙂 Super Duper Collage But recently we tried a new game from Super Duper – MagneTalk Early Classifying magnetic game. My 2.5 year old is really smart, and it kinda blows me away. She was able to identify every magnet in the set when I first opened the package, with the exception of “television” because we don’t have one. 🙂 As for the categorizing – she and her 3.5 year old friend were having more fun hoarding magnets than listening to me say, “Put the cat in the center where the animals live.” It will take time, but they’ll learn! And I love that play = learning! MagneTalk Early Classifying has 5 categories:

  • Transportation – car, bus, motorcycle, airplane, boat, helicopter, fire engine
  • Clothing – sneakers, socks, jeans, bathing suit, shirt, cap, coat
  • Animals – cat, dog, cow, horse, lizard, zebra, chicken
  • Food – apple, grapes, corn, peas, pizza, hamburger, cookie
  • Around the Home – chair, sofa, cup, cell phone, bed, lamp, television
