IMG_6297 “Who can take a rainbow, wrap it in a sigh, soak it in the sun and make strawberry-lemon pie? The Candy Man can! The Candy Man can ’cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good”. That’s right folks, Willy Wonka, the world’s greatest Candy Man is back at it with a super fun-tastic new treat for kids and grown ups alike. WONKA’s new Peel-a-Pop frozen treats are part ice cream, part gummy bear and delicious from start to finish. Each pop has an outer layer that peels in banana-like fashion (except totally edible) and a vanilla ice cream treasure is found inside.

The pops come in two flavors, vanilla grape and vanilla banana. I found both flavors at my local supermarket in the ice cream aisle. My kids thought these were the coolest things around. My daughter went for the grape flavor and my son went for the banana. My 6 year-old daughter daintily peeled her pop, eating the ice cream as one entity and the peel as another. My 4 year-old son took a different approach and ate the whole thing in 5 giant bites, as only a 4 year-old boy can. My 2 year-old was utterly confused by the curiosity of the pop itself and opted for a WONKA Outrageous Orange Push-Up pop instead. Which she devoured until the cardboard met the plastic, saying “Yummy!” every 3 bites. Oh she is so cute.

But we not only got to try WONKA’s Peel-a-Pops, we got to take them to the next level by pairing them with our favorite kid-friendly chocolate chip cookie recipe which we found online at food.com (seriously, what did people even DO before the internet??). We mixed, we baked, we may have even snuck a taste of dough or two (before the eggs went in, of course). And we WONKA-fyed our dessert with some ooey gooey cookies to go with our Peel-a-Pops. Oh, yum yum yum!!!

I have not seen these in our local grocery store yet. I love to eat frozen treats, if I can get to them before the Grand Kids do!

Those sound like fun, tasty treats for the kids. I don’t like the flavor of bananas but would like to try the vanilla grape Peel-a-Pops.
