four ways to make your home smarter and simpler

Families are busier than ever these days, making it that much harder to maintain a household. Fortunately, there are plenty of smart solutions that use technology to make it simpler to keep track of all those odds and ends around the house. Whether it’s ensuring efficiency in your home, protecting your house from intruders, or giving you easier, faster ways to get through your list of chores, these smart home products offer helpful solutions that any busy homeowner can appreciate.

  • Smart Light Bulbs – Switching to smart lighting may seem impractical; after all, do you really need to be able to control your lights wirelessly? But smart light bulbs are great for reasons beyond the futuristic capabilities of altering brightness and colors with a few taps on your smartphone. When you install smart lights, you can create “rules” which will turn the lights on and off when you enter and leave a room. Smart lighting also lets you automate your lights when you’re out of town, which is a great way to reduce the risk of burglary. Light bulbs with smart technology are also programmed to help you reduce energy usage.

  • Smart Thermostat – If your heating and cooling bills are putting a strain on your budget every month, it’s time to invest in a smart thermostat. This device can revolutionize the way you use your HVAC system at home. It allows you to remotely control your thermostat from any smartphone, tablet, or PC so you can change the climate in your home remotely. Better yet, a smart thermostat helps you make your heating and cooling system more efficient and even offers suggestions for tweaking your settings to save money.  As an added bonus, this also puts less strain on your HVAC system and can help lower your maintenance and repair costs over time.
  • Smart Cleanin – If you’re like any busy family today, you have trouble finding time to keep the house clean. But instead of hiring a housekeeper, you can invest in smart cleaning products that use technology to keep your space tidy day in and day out.  Some of the most popular products in this category include robotic vacuums, which you can set to run while you’re away. You can also find smart mopping robots which get the job done when you’re not looking. All you have to do is set it and forget it, and you’ll come home to clean floors every day.
  • Smart Security – Last but not least is your home security system. Older security programs can’t compare to the new smart security options available today. An app on your smartphone allows you to check on your system at any time and from anywhere, and the wireless functionality means burglars can’t cut telephone or broadband cables to disarm your system. You can also find smart security systems that come with remotely accessible surveillance cameras that allow you to see what’s going on in your home while you’re away.

Make life a little easier every day by adding these smart technology features to your home.
