five must see places on your travels to Hawaii

indexHave you ever been to Hawaii?  I used to live there when I was a child. Although, while I do remember some of it, some of it do not!  I would have to say it would be one place I would recommend everyone visit.  It so tropical and fun.  I wanted to share with you five nature attractions near Honolulu that you just need to see if you go there.  My father was in the Navy and we live on the base in Honolulu. I remember going to Ewa Beach quite a bit. These places bring back memories so I had to share in case you take that magical trip and make your own memories.

Honolulu holds a great deal of historical significance while delivering an alluring tropical destination. The site is well-known for the role it played in World War II, but it also hosts some of the most engaging nature trails and hikes witnessed by humankind. As the island is small, it can be traversed in less than an hour by vehicle in order to reach these magnificent scenes of plant and animal life.

Honolulu Watershed Forest Reserve

The Honolulu Watershed provides hiking trails that lead you through the forest providing access to attractions such as Manoa Falls. This tropical rainforest offers an incredible view of the valley. The overgrowth of nature makes the scene look untouched by human hands in many areas giving the sense of complete isolation.

Ewa Forest Reserve

Known for its pools and waterfalls, visiting the Ewa Forest Reserve is an excellent way to spend a day. With alternating lengths of trails available, you can take an easy route to visit the crystal pools of the area or take a longer hike up around the ridge of the forest itself.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve Park

For those looking to snorkel and visit the life under the surface, Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve Park features crystal clear waters and an eclectic collection of creatures. The bay itself opens up to the Atlantic Ocean allowing all manner of life to drift into the shallow waters.  This looks pretty amazing and I would definitely want to go see this.

Koko Head District Park

The old cable-car track spanning the hill in Koko Head District Park was once used to get military supplies to the top. It’s now used by hikers as a way to traverse the landscape and visit two natural craters within the area. As there is little in the way of tree cover, sunscreen is recommended. The view from the top of the hill is nothing short of breathtaking.

Kuliouou Forest Reserve

The trail within the Kuliouou Forest Reserve leads into dense foliage. As the trail is not regularly maintained after a certain point, it can be difficult for inexperienced hikers. Camping is allowed within 10 feet of the main trail amongst a wide collection of plant life such as ironwood, Norfolk pine and Christmas berry.

Vacations to Honolulu may sound extravagant, but accommodations can be affordable. By searching for the right deals for hotels in Honolulu, you can save money to spend on exploring the island or visiting gourmet restaurants specializing in the cuisine of the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy yourself in this island paradise while making your dollar stretch further.
