do your kids pack their own school lunches? {#fitandfresh}

Last year I packed approximately 360 school lunches (that’s 180 days of lunches for 2 girls). Not that I’m complaining. Packing lunches each morning was a pretty easy task, especially knowing that my girls were getting a nutritious lunch with foods I knew they’d actually eat.

But those last few weeks? Yeah, I was ready to be done. Then again, come the end of May, I was ready to be done with all things school related.

This year I’m excited to try something a little different and let my oldest daughter pack her own lunches! It may not seem life-altering but she’s super excited to have that bit of independence and I’m eager to see what choices she makes! Plus, that’s 180 less lunches I’ll be making this year!

We’re doing this with the help of our new Fit & Fresh Kids’ Bento Lunch Kit with Insulated Carrier.

First, my daughter was in love with the different color options! Fun colors and fun designs, perfect for a pre-teen! Sure, I’ll miss that animal shaped lunchbox this year, but these prints are really fun! And she was ready for something a little more “grown-up”.

Of course the compartments inside the Bento Lunch Kit will help my daughter when making choices of how to fill her lunch box!

The Bento Lunch Kit comes with one main container (sandwich size) and two smaller containers that each hold about a half cup. The main container lid holds two snap-in ice packs to help keep the lunch cold, if needed, and they whole Bento Lunch Kit fits inside an insulated “chiller bag”. Done!

While I’m sure we’ll have some interesting conversations about “good” choices for her lunch, I do rest a little easier knowing that the Bento Lunch Kit is super easy to clean! All of the little containers inside are microwave and top rack dishwasher safe and the inner lining of the bag is easy to wipe clean. Because, even though the small Bento PODS inside have leak resistant lids, I know my daughter and the messes she can manage to make 🙂

Now that we have the Kids’ Bento Lunch Kit Insulated Carrier, it’s time to start planning out some lunch ideas!

My daughter has been happily pinning some fun ideas she’d like to try and I have no doubt that we’ll mix in some of her traditional lunch go-tos. But I’d love to hear some of your ideas!

How do you/your kids keep those school lunches fun and fresh? Do your kids make their own lunches or help with lunch ideas?

Also, be sure to check out the different lunch box options at Fit & Fresh! They have so many different options that you’re sure to find something for everyone, from your littlest schooler to your high schooler to even mom!

    My daughter is not yet old enough to pack her own lunches (she’s still in preschool), but I’m hoping to have her do it when she gets older. I think having a colorful lunch kit would definitely help! Love the insulated bag that comes with these- such a great idea. 🙂

    Love the lunchboxes above. My child doesn’t make his own lunch seeing as he’s only 4 and sometimes doesn’t make the best choice 🙂 For instance, instead of one cookie he grabs three.
