famous footwear :: rock your school 2012 {giveaway}

We all know that Back to School is right around the corner for so many of us.  Whether your children go year round, or have a summer break like we do here in Michigan, school is beginning very soon.

Famous Footwear is a store I have learned about and started trusting for my shoe purchases when I met them back at Blissdom (a blogging conference) back in the spring.  Since then, many (almost too many) purchases have been made.

They are hosting a “Rock Your School” contest and it started August 5th, 2012.  Here are the details:

“…inviting students and parents to share their dream enhancements for their school. The high school that receives the highest number of votes can win up to $75,000. The winning entrant will receive a cash prize worth up to $25,000. Whether it be technology transformations, facility makeovers, creating more substantial sports or arts programs or a chance to amp up their music department, we want to hear from students and parents from high schools across the nation! We look forward to seeing the contest build school spirit amongst the students, parents, faculty and staff as the nominated school seeks to garner the most votes.”

Head over to their Facebook Page or download the mobile app, Rock Your School (iPhone and Android, sa-weet!).  In at least 250 words, entrants must share “how their school would use the funds to make it “rock.””

Fans can vote once daily for their favorite entry. For every vote cast, Famous Footwear will add $1 to the prize, up to $75,000 for the school donation and up to $25,000 for the entrant. Two instant win prizes including $10 Famous Footwear and Converse gift cards, tote bags, T-shirts and more will be given away daily to voters.

Here is the run-down:
August 5 – September 8: Nominate your high school
September 16 – October 5: Fans will be able to vote on their favorite finalists
On or about October 21: The grand prize winner will be announced
