elearning for a busy lifestyle

I have forgotten how hard it is to raise a family, get kids to school, get them to practice and take a graduate course. Thankfully, I am not currently employed, but I didn’t want my teaching certification to lapse just in case I choose to teach again. My eldest daughter is on homebound due to medical problems so I would not have been able to teach this school year.  I can honestly say I am very thankful I am able to stay home with my children in cases such as this.  This week has been a challenge for me to keep up since it is Easter weekend, my daughter’s and niece’s birthdays, doctors appointments, softball, baseball, and church need I say more?

We all have struggles keeping up with our day-to-day activities then when you throw in three special occasions into the same week that’s total chaos.  This just happened to be my third week of an online graduate course that requires me to read and complete three written assignments each week.  I love the benefits of an online course with my busy lifestyle, but you must be self-motivated and self-disciplined to be successful.  This week we focused on Learning Modalities: visual, kinesthetic/tactile and auditory learners.  For instance, I am predominately a visual learner.  I learn best by using visual aides, seeing the information, written directions, illustrations, maps, basically anything you can see.

I’m not sure how many of you are teachers, and if you are what state you reside in.  In South Carolina we are required to take our courses through out State Department, and Virtual South Carolina is one of the websites we use to take our courses.  Sometimes I prefer face-to-face, traditional learning better, but with everything going on in my life right now it would not be possible.  Although I’m no longer homeschooling my children I am home with my daughter while she is on medical homebound.  That being said, I am able to help her with her studies, watch over her medical issues and work on my recertification all from home.  If you are looking for a way to continue your education, or recertification elearning is the way to go.
