don’t you wish that you had jessicurl :: the curly girl journey continues + giveaway

disclaimer giveaway

I couldn’t not title this post like I did for two reasons. First, the song ‘Jessie’s Girl’ pops into my head every single time I use my Jessicurl products, and second, you really will wish you had them for yourself!

A little while back I shared about the beginning of my curly hair journey. I can say without hesitation I love my curly hair more today than I ever have before. Evvvv-er. How crazy that learning a few simple tips and tricks and having the right products could change my perspective so greatly in just a couple short months.

I’m honestly super excited to see what my hair looks like a year from now!

Along the way I’ve found a few products that I won’t go a day without now. Some of those products are made by Jessicurl, a vegan and cruelty-free hair product company. Their products are free from the ingredients that cause frizz and frustration for curly haired people like silicones and certain alcohols. They are also gluten free!

I have so many new favorites from this hair care line it’s hard to know where to start. So I’ll walk through my typical wash day routine step by step…I only shampoo about once a week now and the other days I deep condition or co-wash.

The first thing I do after wetting my hair is to cleanse with the Jessicurl Gentle Lather shampoo. I focus on my roots and allow the water to rinse the cleanser through to my ends rather than sudsing up my whole head. This helps keep my ends from drying out and splitting.

Second, I use the Aloeba Daily Conditioner from roots to ends and allow it to soak in for at least 5 minutes. If I notice my hair has been on the dry side, or I’ve done alot of damage (swimming in a pool for instance!) I will use the Too Shea Extra Mositurizing Conditioner instead to really lock in the moisture.

Once I rinse out my conditioner I scrunch out some of the extra water because I no longer wrap my wet hair in a towel. Alot of curly hair products work best when applied to soaking wet hair and terry cloth towels create frizz.

The Jessicurl products have such amazing scents…I’ve had people tell me that I smell good and I secretly laugh because I know it’s my hair products. 😀 The Island Fantasy scent has a tropical and coconut smell and the Citrus Lavender is so fresh and calming. Both are my favorite because I can’t pick just one.

For styling, I’ve been marrying the Jessicurl Confidant Curls styling solution with another light cream gel and a curl activator cream. The results are well-defined, frizz-free, soft curls. The softness combined with the all day hold is something I have never been able to master before trying the Jessicurl line.

Once I pulse in the products and scrunch using an old t-shirt (not my hands to avoid breaking up the curl pattern!) I diffuse my hair on the cool setting for about 15-20 minutes. When my hair is dried I scrunch out the crunch and am left with bouncy curls that just make me smile.

If my curls need a little pick me up during the day I spritz on some of the Awe Inspiring midday curl refresher and let it air dry. With these summer days being extra humid lately, I’ve found using the curl refresher really brings any droopy curls back to life.

If you’re a curly girl (or guy!) the Jessicurl products are definitely ones to get your hands on!
