Every month my husband and daughter go on a date. We’re not just talking out to dinner here. We’re talking go-karting, snow tubing, ice skating, horseback riding, checking out museums and so much more. But I’ll let you in on a little secret here. My husband plans NONE of it. Another secret? I don’t plan it either! They are part of an amazing organization here in Grand Rapids called Daddy Daughter Time.

Daddy Daughter Time is a non-profit organization dedicated to deepening father-daughter relationships. There are mounds of research that show huge benefits for girls to spend quality time with their dads. Like lower teen pregnancy rates, higher test scores and more positive body image. Daddy-Daughter Time plans monthly events in or around the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Dads and daughters can sign up for any event or become a member which includes one event every month! So for about $8/month a dad and daughter pair can head to all of the amazing events. Even though my husband and daughter can’t make it to every event, this is still by far a fantastic deal. We all know just one visit to Craig’s Cruisers can easily cost $40 on it’s own! For those of you not local to Grand Rapids, I highly encourage you to encourage your husband (or another amazing male role model) to carve our some special time each month to spend one-on-one with each of his girls. It could be as simple as letting her stay up late one night and playing a game while the others are in bed. You can certainly get creative and have a free date right at home! For those of you who are local, my husband and daughter would love for you to join them at the next Daddy Daughter Time event (snow tubing at Cannonsburg)!
